Sponsored project by Honda, done during my time at Umeå Institute of Design. The brief was to research Gen Z users who grew up with gaming and discover what could excite them to fall in love with driving again.
The result is an interior that draws inspiration from professional gaming. Providing different modes (single and multi-player), you can earn points in the meta-verse and compete with other Honda drivers virtually.
Research

The package draws inspiration from fighter jet layouts, placing the occupants in a 1+1 tandem layout. This exotic layout fits the excitement that Gen Z gamers search for, and reduces frontal area for better aero.

Design development
The final architecture is based on two wing shapes surrounding the driver, emphasizing that this is a sportscar. The tandem layout and wide exterior allow for helmet storage in the door.

The cockpit consists of a 180-degree, fully enveloping screen, drawing inspiration from pro gaming set-ups. This way, ADAS light signals are displayed across the full IP, immersing the driver in the action and optimizing reaction speed.

Final design
The section view shows the Strategy Interface for the rear passenger in Multi-Player mode. In Single-Player mode, this seat slides forward to create additional cargo space (for carrying gaming/streaming equipment).
